Have you ever asked yourself the question, are all shower curtains the same length?
Keeping reading to discover the answer.
Are All Shower Curtains The Same Length?
On the surface, it seems that the answer to this question would be yes. Typically shower stalls and bathtubs come in the same size but that’s not always the case. This is why sometimes shower curtains seem too short or too long.
Shower Curtain Measurements
Shower curtains are designed to fit a standard tub with a length of 60 inches. An additional 12 inches is added to the width. This is done so that the shower curtain appears full and plump.
Typical Shower Curtain Measurements
70 x 70 inches
70 x 72 inches
72 x 72 inches
Notice the 60 inches plus the additional 12 inches totaling 72 inches

How to Measure Standard Shower Curtain
To quickly measure the length of your shower curtain rod, here’s a quick tutorial.
Extend your shower curtain rod to the full length. Then add 12 inches to that measurement. Doing the measurements this way will ensure you have enough shower curtain for your shower.
Don’t let mold and mildew build up on your shower curtain by letting it hang to the floor. To identify how high to hang your shower curtain, if your rod is 72″ long then your shower curtain should be 2 to 3 inches longer from the floor. So roughly 75” from the floor to the rod.
As a side note: For a shower stall, the measurements are:
- 50 x 78 inches
- 54 x 78 inches
While all shower curtains are not the same length, you can adjust it to determine how high or how low it is to the floor.
